I was able to meet Mr. Hagen several times and he was always kind and I
believe he enjoyed the time he spent with the fans of The Andy Griffith
Show. I certainly know I enjoyed my time with him and the time I've
spent over the years whistling and humming the music he shared with us

What a great talent. He will be missed. He wrote some of the greatest

You can not hear TAGS opening theme and not feel good. It's impossible.
Being a North Carolinian, it means "home" to me. I'm sure that's
probably true of anyone who grew up in the rural South in the 1960s.

I LOVED THE THEME THAT EARLE HAGEN WROTE FOR THE
ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW 'THE FISHING HOLE'. I ALSO
LOVED THE THEME HE WROTE FOR GOMER PYLE U.S.M.C.

The music from TAGS is as much a 'character' as the cast themselves. It
blended seamlessly throughout the dialogue, setting a mood,
underscoring a point, adding punch to the humor or melancholy to the
drama. Mr. Hagen had a very special gift, and I'm grateful that he was
able to share it with us through TAGS.
