February 26, 2006 - Msg 230: I feel blessed to have grown up watching Don Knotts. My Daddy passed away March 6 of last year and some how watching the Andy Griffith show makes me feel closer to him. Some of my fondest memories are of my Daddy and I laughing at Barney whether it be Barney behind the wheel of his first car or him issuing Otis a sobriety test. Mr. Knott's family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers. I think I will spend the day watching reruns......

February 26, 2006 - Msg 241: So sad to read the news this morning. I was just yesterday watching the episode where Opie finds $50, tells him he can keep it, then tells Barney he's going to have to take it back since the owner showed up. Barney goes into the back room to cry. What a wonderful character and a great actor.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 242: My 2 favorite Barney episodes: when Andy & Helen get trapped in the cave & Barney rallys the town to save them and Barney instructs Opie in the art of romance and the helplessly watches as Opie falls in love with Thelma Lou. Don Knotts - a fabulous actor & human being & I loved seeing Don & Andy together in Matlock. Caterine in Flint, Michigan

February 26, 2006 - Msg 243: This world lost a true blessing from God in the image of Don Knotts. My office will always adorn all of his images and characters that line my walls I cried today. If the holsom views that showed in the writings of the TV show Andy Griffith were practiced in this world today what a better world we would live. I'm sure the Mayberry festival in Rocky Mount, N.C will pay you great homage this coming year Deputy Fife. I'll never forget you Don your memory will never be Nipped in the Bud.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 244: You have to nip it in the bud,as Barney told this to Andy, Thats what Don did,he nipped life in the bud and stepped into Heaven to bloom forever. We will forever miss you Don but will meet you one day

February 26, 2006 - Msg 251: Don Knotts was the most famous person to come from the state of West Virginia. Being a West Virginia resident, I have always been proud of him. He has made me laugh more than any other person in the world. The relationship between Don and Andy was remarkable and is a testament to what it means to be a true friend, even at the end. For me, the two best "Barney" episodes are "Barney and the Choir" and "Barney Buys a Car". Thank you Don and God Bless You. Tom W., Charles Town, WV

February 26, 2006 - Msg 266: You can measure a man by how he has touched others hearts. As i read these posts Don has touched many. So it is safe to say Don Knotts was a great man. Rest in Peace Deputy.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 267: As growing up in West Virginia, Don Knotts was the best known comic in the state. His humor, wit and charm made millions of lifelong fans young and old alike. Last night I watched the show where Barney got the kit that made wishes come true for Opie. (3rd wish Andy ant Thema Lou marry) This man had comic timing that should be in every actor class. Thank you, Mr. Knotts for making the world laugh. Jon

February 26, 2006 - Msg 270: In a world where the things on tv are not family oriented I am thankful for the memories that I have watching Don and his many wonderful family oriented shows. I have children that would rather sit back and watch Mayberry than Power Rangers, I attribute this to the unique style of humor that Don brought to the screen. Thanks for the memories that I have from watching you and thanks for the memories my children will gain from watching your shows. God bless.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 271: Thank You fot evrything Don!!

February 26, 2006 - Msg 272: Our Church small group just finished the Mayberry Bible Study last week. Each study started with an uninterupted episode of TAGS. This study has been a blessing on a number of levels and brought a sense of comfort and familiarity to our group that wasn't there in our previous studies. I attribute this to the honesty and pureness of the characters in Mayberry. Barney was the common link between all of us and the sweet innocence of our (less responsible) youth. We all connected to that time when we first saw Barney dressed in a Bridal Gown so they could catch Ernest T or Barney letting the Bank Robbers know what the Rules were "Here at the Rock". I would encourage anyone in a Bible Study to try out the Mayberry Bible Study as a tribute to Barney and how he has affected everyones life is some happy, healthy way.
Check your weapon at the door Barne, you won't be needing that bullit where you're goin.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 273: I thank the Lord for blessing us with the actor Don Knotts, what a GREAT actor

February 26, 2006 - Msg 274: Because of TAGS, I have been brought through some troublesome times. When I was down, and feeling depressed over life issues at times, I could tune in to TAGS and have some relief for a time. Many thanks to all the cast and crew. Barney all the world love's you. We will miss you deeply.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 275: I heard the news but didn't dare break it yet to my wife. She loved Barney and all his screw-ups and when he saved the day. We watched the Love Bug last week, he played the fickle mechanic. The world HAS lost one of it's greatest comedians ever.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 276: Thanks For The Laughs. You will Always Live In Our Hearts.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 277: Heaven is now a safer place that Don Knotts has passed. From now on, not only will we have to get past St Peter at the gates, old Barn will probably set up a "Checkpoint Chickee" to keep out all the undesirable types! All the pickles there will be sweet, there will be an abundance of Mr Cookie bars and Don always get to sing lead on 'Santa Lucia'.To wrap it all up, what else can I say? Don...you're the cats. RIP dear friend.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 278: thank you for the wonderful smiles & laughter.there will never be another one like you .our condolences to the family of don knotts.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 279: No doubt services will be in the "little brown church in the vail". Like a friend of our innocent youth, Don's memory will be ageless and comforting. Enduring through "citizen/s arrest", Deputy Fife on patrol forever, guarding the green lanes of Mayberry. Or perhaps it was heaven. My but the trees do, "seem nice and full".

February 26, 2006 - Msg 280: Don:

You will forever be my hero! You proved to the world how a little skinny guy from West Virginia could become an immortal giant of humor and comedy on TV and in the movies. For 25 years I looked forward to watching your re-runs on TV each night after work. Somehow, it made the day complete. You were able to take many like me back to a time, in our minds and emaginations, when life was simple and innocent; to a time when we entertained ourselves without computers, gameboys, satellite tv, or cell phones. You showed us how a great time was spending the evening with Thelma Lou at the Mayberry Diner, watching a George Raft movie, or fishing on Myers Lake. You and Andy gave us laughs without crude putdowns, violence, or profanity. What was greatest about you, Don, was that you sacrificed you ego so that others might laugh at that in life that is most laughable and humorous---ourselves. You help give us all a safe haven to spend half an hour each day feeling good in a world that our "inner child" could thrive, laugh, and love.

Thank you, Don!

Glenn from Pennsylvania

February 26, 2006 - Msg 287: Ever since I can remember, watching the Andy Griffith show was a family tradition. As a child I learned so many life lessons from the show, as it taught me many morals, how to treat others and how to have fun all at the same time. I have Don Knotts to thank for that. Don Knotts has touched my family in every way possible. He was probably the number one reason why I watched the show over and over. Throughout the years of my life Don Knotts brought me so much joy and happiness when in time of need. He never let me down. Thank you Don Knotts for always being there for me, you will forever be a part of my life. See you on TV!

February 26, 2006 - Msg 311: Barney gets his man - season 4.

'You just never know when another beast might come down out of the forest. You understand, don't you Thelma Lou? I really don't expect you to. You see Thelma Lou, this is what we call the deadly game. I'm in it for keeps.'

He walks off bigger than life. Camera is on the street at foot level. Brilliant shot. Brilliant scene. Brillian Character. Brillian comedic actor.

One of my favorite memories from childhood, sitting on my big brother's lap (who I thought was the coolest guy ever) and watching The Andy Griffith Show.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 321: I was raised up watching The Andy Griffith Show -they were just part of our family you might say. Then as I got older, on Super Bowl Sunday - my dad and I did not look forward to the big game, but to the 12 hours or more of The Andy Griffith Show they would have on tv - that was our Super Bowl - and we did that until my dad's passing in 1994. So I know that on Friday night as Mr. Knotts passed into Heaven, my dad was there just waiting to greet him. Thank you Don Knotts for all the laughter you gave...it will live in our hearts forever.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 326: Don will be missed by millions and millions who loved his work. I think that one of the networks should pay a tribute to one of the all time greats and have a Don Knotts marathon day. Show all of his movies, The Andy Griffith Show, and anything else they can get their hands on. It just seems right for some reason.

Good by Don, you were one of the great ones.

JL - Roanoke Virginia.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 327: Don, You brought so much happiness and laughter to so many peoples lives you will truly be missed.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 328: There was never a television show that I enjoyed(and still enjoy) more than the Andy Griffith Show, and never a character that I enjoyed more than Barney Fife.Noone could have played this role better than Don Knotts. No matter what character he played, Don always made us laugh, and temporarily forget our own, real-life, "bumps-in-the-road".For those of us in the Baby Boom generation, Don's passing is like losing a member of our own family.Don, thank you for the laughter. I along with every other fan of the Andy Grifith Show(and of you, in particular) will always remember you, particularly when we whistle the theme song from the show!
Chelmsford, MA

February 26, 2006 - Msg 329: I want to think of Don's passing as the end of the blessing he provided to TV viewers. I am grateful for the laughter he inspired in my life, and am also grateful for the technology available to allow his comedic genious to be replayed over and over again.
Thanks, Barney...You beat everything..you know that?

February 26, 2006 - Msg 330: I feel like I just lost a family member. Don Knotts was by far my favorite "funny man" and he did it so effortlessly. He touched the heart and soul of Americans. Don, You will be greatly missed--

February 26, 2006 - Msg 333: We shall meet, but we shall miss him
There will be one vacant chair;
We shall linger to caress him
While we breathe our evening prayer.

Thanks for the laughs Don.

Much Love, Will and Heather.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 334: I was truly amazed at how much of a loss I felt yesterday when I learned of the passing of Don Knotts. Like so many, I think it was a reflection of just how much we cared for and enjoyed all that Mr. Knotts contributed to our lives and especially to our hearts. He will be missed even more than he is cherished every time he locks himself in the jail or "let's her go"--in reverse. And I for one, know I will be watching and laughing a little louder tonight when I throw in my favorite DVD collection. God Bless--and thank you Mr. Notts.

Don Knotts while small in frame cast a giant shadow....he was monumental in life. He influenced many followers, and made many friends with each episode he acted. As of member of Law Enforcement, we have lost our favorite Deputy. Thank you Mr Knotts for the wholesome, country-spun humble man you portrayed. We are blessed for your talents that you shared with us. Rest in Peace, Peter Niles, Il

February 26, 2006 - Msg 345: What a sad, sad day.I was dreading it,I knew it was coming and now that it's here, it hurts so deeply. We have definitely lost a close, close member of our family. My daughter, now 25, has been quoting Barney Fife since she was 4 years old. We live in far Western Ky., but guess what? She is getting married this summer and will be living with her new husband in, guess where-- Raleigh, NC. Like I told her, it didn't surprise me that that's where she would settle, as much as The Andy Griffith Show and all the people of Mayberry have been like our family. (But like I told them, stay away from that restaurant where all the waitresses wear peekaboo blouses) Now we have lost someone we love very, very much and I have cried off and on all day. The one thing that occurred to me when I heard this is Barney is finally being welcomed into a choir of millions and his voice is as beautiful as it could ever be. NO ONE will have to sing for him. And Don is at rest in the arms of his Father. Goodbye, old friend. Thank you for bringing such joy to me, my husband and my daughter. You will always live on in our homes and our hearts.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 346: Good bye old friend. My wife and I feel as we have lost a member of our family. The world is sadder place with you gone, but a better place for you having been here.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 348: It's hard to express how much Don Knotts has meant to me throughout my life. He has made me smile on numerous occasions when it felt like the world was coming down on me. My only regret is never having the chance to meet Don and tell him what he meant to me. I hope I can meet Andy one day and share many wonderful stories. Andy and Barney, through my eyes, will always be the greatest comedians the world has ever known, and will know. I only hope I can make half the difference in people's lives as did this great duo, and I can't wait to meet them both in heaven one day. You will be loved forever Mr. Knotts by myself and many others for the rest of our lives. Your friends and family will be in my prayers.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 350: Don Knotts, as evident in all the postings on this site, will truly live on after the rest of us have been forgotten. In a world that becomes meaner and more dangerous every minute, the AGS has always been a welcoming oasis. If only we could all reside in Mayberry! At least we can visit thanks to TV Land. Heaven has a new deputy in town. God bless you Don Knotts and thanks for all the laughs. BSG
