February 26, 2006 - Msg 566: 2/26/06-In the mid 1970's, I was dating a flight attendant who had Don Knotts on one of her flights from LA to Atlanta. It was Halloween, so she and some of the other flight attendants invited Mr. Knotts to a costume party. Even though they knew he wouldn't come, they gave him the address. Later, at the party, the doorbell rang. When they opened the door, there stood "Barney" in full uniform! They couldn't believe it. Mr Knotts stayed for a couple of hours, took pictures with everyone and signed autographs. I think this shows what a special person he was. Like so many, I feel like I have lost a family member.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 579: I am truly saddened by Don Knotts' passing. Here in West Virginia (Don's home state), its called 'Almost Heaven.' I think we all know that where Don is now is not 'almost.'

You may know that Howard Morris (who played Ernst T) also passed last year. Now we all know that Barney is up there too, making sure no rocks are being thrown and nipping it in the bud.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 580: See ya Barney. Thanks for the memories. People who love the show, know what a treasure you were.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 581: Don Knotts was simply an actor, who made us laugh and cry. Not too many actors can do that with ease -- not even Paul Newman, Tom Cruise, Harrison Ford, Brad Pritt and others. Don Knotts was one of the best -- along with Charlie Chaplin, Jack Lemmon, James Stewart, Spencer Tracy, and yes, even Laurence Olivier.
Don Knotts really was a great actor.

Thank you for the great memories, Mr. Knotts.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 622: Don Knotts left a legacy of laughter the likes we may never see again. We are so fortunate to have had his talent on this earth for 81 years. It was ironic to watch his performance this morning in a great episode on TV Land, "Otis Sues the County", which contains the line for the namesake of our local TAGSRWC chapter. Baney Fife is truly one of the greatest characters in the history of televison. Fortunately, he will continue to live on for generations to come.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 630: To the Knotts family and all who may read these words, heartfelt sympathy and prayers:
The Andy Griffith Show has had a major impact on the life of my family. It has provided clean laughter and fun mixed with messages of love and friendship for three generations. My children love it almost as much as I do and were heartbroken to hear of Don's passing. We often communicate in lines from the show. When my daughters marry and have children one day, one of the things I look forward to is watching Andy Griffith shows with them and watching them see them for the first time.

I am a minister, and my congregation knows what a big Andy Griffith show fan I am. On the fifth anniversary at the church where I now preach, I was presented a watch with the inscription on the back "5". Just like Barney! It was a funny and touching moment for me.

Don Knotts and his work will be remembered for a very very long time.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 701: I'm saddened to hear that this comic genius has passed away. I collect the Andy Griffith DVD's and even though I have watched them thousands of time, Barney never ceases to make me laugh.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 702: Don Knotts, I remember him on the Steve Allen Show as the man in the street. As Barney Fife, there was no one better. On Three's Company you couldn't ask for a better Landlord. On Matalock with his best friend Andy Griffith, they were a picture of perfection. In the movies or on TV Don Knotts made the show. I know that he is in Heaven and I am sure he is as perfect there as he was on Earth. Don we'll miss you but we'll be watching you everyday on TV.

Thanks for all the memories.
