February 26, 2006 - Msg 730: Nothing makes me laugh like the blustering, but sweet, Barney Fife. His comedic timing was perfect! I can't tell you the number of times my friends and family and I have used one of Barney's best lines in conversation. Don Knotts simply was the funniest--most well-rounded character ever on television. Period. I'm so glad all of those beautiful old episodes remain; my husband and I can enjoy a half hour of entertainment that my young daughter can have fun with too! Thank you, DON KNOTTS!

February 26, 2006 - Msg 800: Couple of editorial comments: (1)the morning chit-chats "Andge" and Barn had at the court-house were the predecessor of Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld's "show about nothing"-- really, a show about any-and-everything that popped into the writers' minds. (2) Don Knotts's movies are very under-rated. They were out-of-step with the countercultural mood of the late 60s, but look much better now as a showcase for his distinct comic personality. (3) My favorite Barney line? How about, "Boy, giraffes are selfish. Just looking out for number one..." in DOGS DOGS DOGS?Don Knotts has said that, when making The Andy Griffith Show, they had so much fun on the set they never stopped laughing. Neither have we, Don, neither have we.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 841: I can't believe how I cried over the Loss of Don Knotts. I feel I have lost a real friend. Don was not a celebrity but a true entertainer someone you could look up to and respect. I can't tell you how much it means to me to be able to go back to Mayberry each day and escape a crazy world. I use his lines from the show with my family all the time. His memory will never die in my house. Rest in Peace ole Barn.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 846: This has been a great experience reading these wonderful messages about Barney!

I was touched by [message 115, "me and my step dad never got along real well, but he turned me on to the andy griffith show. whenever i'd here that familiar whistle i knew we wouldn't be fighting, but laughing for at least the next hour]

Reading these posts has made me laugh and cry! It's amazing how the show touched people.

Barney was a friend for life! I can't stop laughing at the antics, even when I have seen them a hundred times. I start laughing when I know what is coming up. What a great character, there will never be another.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 848: In an era where many comics find it necessary to be off color to "try" to make people laugh we've lost a comic genius who's folksy style won't ever be duplicated.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 849: Growing up in North Carolina in the 60's and 70's, it was almost state law to watch "Andy Griffith" reruns every day, as well as new episodes every week. The show's morality tales, casting, and comedic timings make this show truly timeless. Hundreds of years from now, people will still be laughing at Andy's constant needling (and then chuckling)of his best friend, and Barney's subsequent outburst. No one but Don Knotts could have made that magic happen - no one! He, and that program, are as much of my Carolina heritage as ACC basketball. I feel truly saddened by his loss and I miss him aleady! Godspeed, my friend, and God Bless you, and your family.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 854: I grew up watching Don Knotts in his many mid-60s into the 70s movies. I hid my eyes during "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken" which is the most memorable of the many movies he made that represent good, clean fun. Even his role in "The Love God" was handled with humor and good taste as only he could have pulled it off. I never enjoyed TAGS as much as when I watched the reruns as an adult and could appreciate his genius. I think the biggest tribute I can give to Don Knotts is that he gave all of us that weren't perfect, the people who always got picked last at Red Rover or softball, a character we could relate to and for that he will always hold a place in the memories of my youth. As for his impact on his audience, I believe any fan can say without a doubt that there no one could have ever fit the roles he played any better. You will be missed but thankfully will live on to entertain generations to come. What a magnificent legacy. Thanks for the many smiles.

February 26, 2006 - Msg 855: Barney will be missed and my favorite episode is when the women inmates take over the cabin in the woods and Barney says "You're getting to me!". Then he danced with the lady leader of the bunch! Barney you will be missed and God only knows, there will never again be another Barney Fife! Emily from Mobile, Alabama

February 26, 2006 - Msg 856: The world has lost a reason to smile. Don Knotts made us laugh and see life in it's truest form; simple, happy and less complicated. Now, heaven has a reason to smile...

February 26, 2006 - Msg 875: To a true legend, Mr. Don Knotts:
there is not a week that passes where my family does not watch at least one classic tv show with Don Knotts. From Andy Griffith Show to Three's Company, to countless other movies or shows, Don Knotts has been a part of our "living room" for years and still wows our family young and old with his irreplaceable acting, comedy, and entertaining qualities... Simply the Best... our hearts are saddened with Don's passing but we have been truly blessed to have had him on our television for too many years to count. Don will be on television for many years to come and for that...we say thank you for touching our lives by your selfless work and professionalism..a "real" one of a kind... Godspeed my friend... Chris, Newport News Virginia....

February 26, 2006 - Msg 876: You never know how much someone means to you until they are gone. When I heard the terrible news about Don Knotts I realized I had taken him and his talents for granted all these years. I guess I always expected him to be here on this Earth. Even though I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Knotts, I feel as though I can safely say that he was a decent, honest, compassionate, loving, kind human being who brought joy and happiness to all of us who had the pleasure of watching him on a daily basis. He was great as Mr. Furley and an absolute genuis as Barney Fife. Your family has my thoughts and prayers. Rest in Peace and May God Bless You!

February 26, 2006 - Msg 884: I remember meeting Mr. Knotts on several occasions. He was remarkable each time. When we met him and the cast in North Carolina, I believe it was the 30th anniversary,(Please correct me if I am wrong),Mr. Knotts was wearing a smile as big as Montana. He seemed surprised that I asked for a "Barney" kiss. He was a blessing to see.I feel blessed that I was able to spend even more time with him during another get together some time after that. He was very Don Knotts and a sweetheart of a "Barney".I will miss him. Today, when I looked up to the sky, I could almost see the clouds shaking with laughter."Ole, Barn must have done it again"
Love you all who loved the man and my condolences to the Knotts family.
