March 05, 2006 - Msg 3009: Along with the rest of you, my wife and I enjoyed a lazy Saturday by watching "The Andy Griffith Show" all day. Lots of laughs, lots of memories and a little sadness. I can still remember my mom watching with us when we were younger and whenever Barney would do that little "sniff" like he was God's gift, he was so convincing at it, my mom would say " Oh, I could just slap him"!! Little did we know he was God's gift, as was the whole show. Thanks Ange, Barn, Opie, Aunt Bea and all!

March 05, 2006 - Msg 3014: Losing Don was like losing a family member. Even though I did not personally know him, it was like we did with him coming into our homes on the Andy Griffith Show. It is so wonderful that we can have the 5 seasons with Barney on DVD and that he will live on, on DVD forever.

March 05, 2006 - Msg 3015: It feels like I lost A close friend when Don passed away. I learned how to laugh at myself from Baryey Fife.

March 05, 2006 - Msg 3017: I've watched Don Knotts on "The Andy Griffith Show" seems like forever. Watched it when it first aired, taped the reruns in later years and now am in the process of acquiring the dvd set. He was an incredible talent that I never grew tired of watching. I feel like I lost one of my family. Thanks for the laughs Mr. Knotts. I sure am gonna miss you. KG5150

March 05, 2006 - Msg 3018: Don Knotts will live forever. He was on of a kind. I have seen every show of Mayberry. I always laugh. Mr. Knotts' work on The Apple Dumpling Gang with Tim Conway was nothing less than GREAT. I was lucky to meet Mr. Knotts some years ago, that was the first time in my life I was speechless. Mr.Knotts will be missed. We are all lucky that we can buy The Andy Griffith show on DVD. Thank you Don Knotts for making me laugh.

March 05, 2006 - Msg 3019: Don Knotts has given all of us a lifetime of smiles and laughter through Barney, Ghost and Mr. Chicken, Steve Allen Show (his nervous man on the street is the best!). He will be missed.

March 05, 2006 - Msg 3020: Good ole Barn will be missed! Thanks for the memories....<

March 05, 2006 - Msg 3021: I grew up watching Barney on the "Andy Griffith Show". Without the character of Barney the show would have been only half as good. I also loved Don Knotts on "Three's Company" and he played that role very well. I am sad.. really sad at the loss of such a fine actor.. Gary E. Bishop

March 05, 2006 - Msg 3022: My family and I spent three years in the Middle East, from 2000 to 2003. Did not have much American television except for the many videos of the Andy Griffith show we took along. With all the hatred on the street, Andy and Barney kept us feeling safe and connected to home. Barney/Don was like a family member. We are the losers, not Don/Barney.

March 05, 2006 - Msg 3023: He made us all laugh and we enjoyed watching him in anything he did.
He will be greatly missed. T & S Dowdle Union Mills NC

March 05, 2006 - Msg 3024: Barney Fife will always be remembered as a mumbling, bumbling, stumbling fool who meant well but for the most part fell on his face. Small town law enforcement officers have often been stereotyped as either being an Andy or a Barney type of peace officer. As a small town police officer myself, I have been often asked which pocket my bullet in!

Don Knotts played the part real well I think and I think that he will be missed by both law enforcement and non-law enforcement people alike.

March 05, 2006 - Msg 3025: Don Knotts was a daily part of my life for over 40 years! Whether it was Barney Fife or Mr. Limpet, he touched my life with laughter! God Bless you Don! We'll miss you terribly!

March 05, 2006 - Msg 3026: We in the law enforcement business pause to say good bye to a fellow officer. He has always been a role model of sorts to all of us in many humorous ways. He will be remembered always by those of us who grew up with the Andy Griffith Show and those younger officers who remember him from Andy Griffith reruns on many different t.v. channels. Some of those who first heard of Don Knotts (a.k.a. Barney Fife) passing placed our black bands on our badges for four days as we would any other fallen officer. He will be missed in life but remembered always by his brothers and sisters in law enforcement. Deputy Dawg

March 05, 2006 - Msg 3027: Where does one start in describing the unspeakable joy and happiness Don Knotts brought to our lives, children, and even our grandchildren now. How do we thank you? You made us laugh like no other actor has ever done or will ever do. I have to say that you're the greatest actor ever born and I just pray and hope that one day, heaven will give me an opportunity to tell you, Andy, and the rest of Mayberry, "thank you for what you've done for us and the memories we have until it's our time to join you." As I continue to view the episodes which never get old, I will remember to take time to again say, "thank you. You are greatly missed, Mr. Knotts."

March 05, 2006 - Msg 3032: Don Knotts is an example of a life well lived. He gave so much of himself and yet remained humble when given the recognition he so deserved. How fortunate we all are to have enjoyed his talent for all these years and even though he is gone, his characters will live on forever. I met him several times and his kindness and gentleness were evident. We can all honor him by continuing to watch The Andy Griffith Show and his movies and laugh at the characters he portrayed; that's what he would want us to do. Thank you, Don for reaching so many and touching our hearts. You will never be forgotten. Shirley

March 05, 2006 - Msg 3037: I've spent a good part of this past weekend watching Barn and Ange (as Barney often called him). I grew up on that show, watching reruns after school. I never realized how many classic episodes there were, how many hilarious moments. When the episodes are shown back to back for hours, it made me realize just how good so many of the shows were. Barn...you will be missed.

March 05, 2006 - Msg 3038: Barney, Andy, Aunt Bee, Opie,EArnest T. all have been a part of our daily lives. We have watched Andy Griffith Show for so many years and I have seen them over and over and can almost quote what each will say, but I can't watch anything else when I know it is on. My daughter Makayla cried when see heard Barney had died and can't stop talking about how we miss Barney. We love all on this show, but Barney shows how we all try to be somebody important and mess up like him. This is The Classic of all Classics. Our family loves it. I won't watch these sitcoms of today. Barney is so funny and precious at the same time. God Bless Barney's Family.

March 05, 2006 - Msg 3043: Being natives of North Carolina, we cherish the Show. If you grew up in a small town in NC, that show really makes you reminisce. My husband and I can never see it too much. Don Knotts was a very talented man, and I hope his family sees all the love America is pouring out for him. There was no other like him, and there is not likely to be another one like him either. A comedic genius. Thanks for all the memories and for all the good lessons we learned while growing up and watching your show.

March 05, 2006 - Msg 3047: Yes I too loved Mr. Knotts as a man who could entertain, and at the same time educate you in the way that you should live your life. At the end of show you could see how things should be, and use it in your life. It was funny, yet educating, I don't think there has ever been any show like this one. God Bless All.

March 05, 2006 - Msg 3057: No TV character will EVER be as CLASSIC as Don Knotts and Barney Fife! Actually the entire show is a CLASSIC and nothing comes close to it's timeless laughs and humor but also having the ability to teach us a little something along the way. March 05, 2006 - Msg 3058: The year is 1969, I'm eight years old and it's One in the morning. Unknown to my mother I had set my alarm to catch a Late showing of "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken" on our old black & white TV. All these years later I still recall, with great affection, the chills that ran up my spine as I watched Luther Haigs confront the ghost of Old Man Simmons up in the the organ loft. Memories as real as these are priceless. Whether it was the frightened Luther Haigs, the acrophobic Roy Flemming or the beloved Barney Fife the many charaters of Don Knotts are every bit an endearing part of my childhood as are my family and friends.
God bless Don Knotts for the gifts he's given all of us. This man is in Heaven now, and no doubt he arrived in his Salt & Pepper suit.

I watched "The Andy Griffith Show" throughout my childhood, and it is still my favorite show today (at 46). The friendship between Andy and Barney was so powerful, and there will never be another show like it. My late father reminded me of Barney, my grandmother was built like Aunt Bee, and I always wanted a son like Opie. I truly enjoyed my escape to Mayberry! I love you, Barney, and I will never forget you! Say hello to my father (who loved you, too), and keep heaven laughing!

This is one of the many shows of days gone by that without featuring any actors of "color", seemingly crossed the color line. It represented the simple, yet rewarding life of just good down home country people. People who valued life and good times. It captivated every emotion possible with Don Knotts being a big part of the many moods. We, especially my husband will truly miss "Barney Fife (Don Knotts). Debra and Ricky in Raleigh, NC

March 05, 2006 - Msg 3103: I'm only 37 I watched Barney since I was a kid. Andy Griffith show would not have been a hit if it was'nt for Don Knotts. Thanks for a whole lot of laughs. Brian Rockmart, Ga

March 05, 2006 - Msg 3108: Thank you God for sending us such a sweet angel - even if for just a short time. Sometimes 82 years is just too short.

March 05, 2006 - Msg 3109: I and all of "Mayberry Nation" was deeply saddened to learn of the homegoing of Don Knotts. Without question, in his day, he along with Andy Griffith and just a very select group of people pioneered "the Golden Age of Television." I feel like I've lost a real friend in the passing of Don/Barney. It made you feel good at night going to bed knowing that Barney was doing his duty. All I can say is Barney/Don, thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the wonderful memories, the laughter, the privilege of watching such a GIFTED actor like you perform for all of our enjoyments. You represented THE BEST that television offered--laughter, fun, enjoyment and a sense of "Americana." Your name will live on in infamy as the best deputy anyone could ever have. May you rest in peace. -Curt McDaniel, Butler, PA

March 05, 2006 - Msg 3116: We mourn the passing of a gentle soul. Don, be at peace.

March 05, 2006 - Msg 3117: When I heard that "Barney" died, my heart almost broke. I felt like I knew him all my life; I felt like I knew him as a dear close friend. We love all you guys- Andy, Opie, and to all of Barney's family. Before he died, and when I would watch TAGS I could actually feel like the Barney I was watching on the screen, he, Don Knotts, was still alive somewhere. Now when I watch him on screen, I feel like a part of it is missing; like thats all thats left of him on this earth. He was a wonderful actor, and he taught me how to laugh at myself... He is loved and missed. I have a big celebrity picture of him above my desk and it brings tears to my eyes this last week as I look at it and it brings memories to my mind as if I personally knew him. Rest in peace, dear friend.

March 05, 2006 - Msg 3118: I've always enjoyed watching the Andy Griffith Show, but I never really realized how much of an impact that this show has made on many lives until my family visited Mt. Airy this past summer. We just loved it! We visited alot of the same places you hear about on the show....snappy's lunch, Floyd's Barber Shop, Pilot Mt. or as it was referenced in the show "Mt. Pilot". I would highly recommend Mt. Airy, Nc to anyone who is a fan of this awesome show! Don Knotts, "Officer Fife" we will miss you here, but we will look forward to meeting you and our other love ones again on the other side!

March 06, 2006 - Msg 3167: Don, I'm only one of your thousands of fans, but I want you to know how you have touched my life in so many ways. I've spent this weekend with my Mom watching the tribute to you on TV Land.
I just want you to know how much you have helped me through many difficult times in my life, none of which was more important on how to laugh at my self and how to make a joke.
You see in school I was enrolled in special education classes for my learning disability in reading. I was made fun of and picked on all through out school as you can imagine. I went on to complete a college degree with the lessons I learned from watching and studying the Barney Character among others you played...and this helped me to deal with people and laugh at myself.
My father passed away several years ago and was also one of your #1 fans. I will miss you, but will never forget you. You trully were an angel here on earth, now God has you back in his loving arms. May he bless you and your family 4ever
WE ALL LOVE YOU
